Playford's 8-2 drubbing of Raydon on Sunday saw them move top of the MB1B table.
Playford took an early lead. Todd Bartlett made good ground down the right, when he reached the by-line he cut in and hit a low cross which the 'keeper failed to deal with and ended in the back of the net. Bartlett extended the lead when he was found at the back post by Owen Hammond and he fired into the roof of the net. Not long after Raydon pulled a goal back.
A stinging long range effort from Jack Shelcott was well saved by the 'keeper but Nick Bingham was on hand to slot home the rebound. But Raydon again reduced Playford's advantage to one just before half time.
Hammond finished a great move by Playford. Ash King was involved in inter play in and around the box and he fed Hammond who coolly slotted home. Nick Bingham then added his second of the morning.
Jordan Daniels rifled in a long effort that seemed to come from nowhere and gave the goalkeeper no chance as it nestled into the top corner. Bingham then hit a distance effort of his own to complete his hat-trick.
Ben Thomas hit the stanchion but, sadly for him, the ball came back out and bounced over the lurking Chris Jones.
Rich Jones rounded off the scoring, being offered two goes to drill a low effort from just outside the box beating the 'keeper's low dive.
The convincing win means that Playford are in pole position for the title, their only challengers, Pauls, must win their match at Laxfield on the 20th of May, a draw would not even be good enough for second place.
