After clinching the title in the same tie two years ago, Playford could only manage a draw this time around.

Jack Lord had an early touch, excellently catching a cross under pressure, he then kicked wide and put Nick Bingham in for a chance.

Rich Jones had a great chance from a corner, everyone on the sidelines thought his header was in, but sadly it was just wide.

Leiston scored from a deep corner, that was headed in.

Playford had spell of possession, Chris Smith, Jordan Daniels and Nick Bingham involved working an opportunity down the right. Then Russell went on a surging run and his pull back was met by Jordan but his shot was wide.

After half an hour Leiston were two ahead.

A nice passing move through the midfield led a to Russell putting in a great cross to the back post, both Smith and Jordan were unable to connect for a final touch leaving Playford trailing 2-0 at half time.

Shortly after the break Joe Harris received the ball in the Leiston half and he fired in a low drive from around 25 yards.

A minute later Russell collected the ball in midfield and also chose to shoot from distance, his shot evaded the 'keeper but not the post. But the rebound struck th 'keeper on the back and ended up in the back of the net, pulling Playford level.

Leiston were ahead only two minutes later when Chris Smith was harshly judged to have handled the ball when it was hit at him from close range. The resulting penalty kick was converted past Lord.

Max Juster replaced Kieran Daniels to make his debut and he looked a real handful for the Leiston defence.

Mid way thorugh the second half, Russell got himself on the scoresheet, his jinking run beat three defenders before the fourth brought him down for a penalty. Choosing to take the kick himself he confidently fired the ball home.
