Ipswich Sunday Football League Team of the Season 2015/2016
Join Playford Join Playford Thinking of Joing Playford - 2016 Recruitment

We are now beginning the process of planning for next season, the first of which is getting our "retained players" list signed. Therefore, if you wish to continue to play for Playford next season then please let me know as soon as possible. In addition, if you have a job that requires you to work at the weekends could you please provide me with a best-guess as to how often you will be unavailable. e.g. 2 Sundays a month.

Also in terms in availability, we have had a number of incidents this season of players requesting not to, and even refusing to, play first team football. We will always try and speak with a player before we ask them to make the step up but we are sometimes left with the impression that players are either not interested in pushing themselves or just want to take the easier option by playing in the Reserves. This is not the attitude we are looking for at Playford Football Club. If you are asked to play for the first team there will be a good reason and you should be pleased to do so. The Reserve team was created due to the size of our squad, not to generate easy fixtures for unambitious players.

If you are a player that does not want to play at the highest level you are offered then we suggest you take the summer to consider if we are the club for you.

Greg Songer and Sam Reach are both leaving us at the end of the season. I would like to thank both of them for their commitment and contribution over the course of their Playford career.

I will be looking to replace these players within the squad.

I would like to know about anyone who is interested in joining the club, so please let me know their position and a rough estimation of their ability.

Ideally I am looking to recruit players who fit the following criteria:

  1. A goalkeeper, centre back and a full back that could go straight into the first team
  2. Players from the Playford catchment area. e.g Woodbridge, Sutton, Kesgrave, Martlesham, Rushmere, Wickham Market.
  3. Anyone else.

There will be open training sessions taking place on Thursday's in July.
These are open to absolutely anyone, if you are thinking of coming down please use the Contact form to let the Management Team know.

These will start at 7:30 and be held on Martlesham Village Green. IP5 3SL, next to the Douglas Bader pub.
