Daryl Francis finally won a game as captain at the 11th time of asking when the Reserves beat Felixstowe Harpers United Reserves 2-1. This brought to end a record streak of games without winning.
The worst opening-games record was previously held by Greg Songer, who took ten matches to get off the mark. He was vice-captain during the First Team's ill-fated spell in the second tier between 2008 and 2011. His first win was the narrow 1-0 victory over Sorrell Horse in 2012.
Of the five captains since 2007 to lead the side on more than 10 occcasions, Alex Brunt has the best win percentage at 71%. His 14 games as captain were some of the early matches of Chris Jones' management stint as Playford made a charge for promotion to tier 1. Despite his good form as captain he was to be replaced by Rich Jones the following season. Ross Leeks shared the captaincy with Brunt that season and won all five of his opening matches.
