Playford won the Kesgrave 5-a-side Tournament last Saturday. After losing their opening game 3-1 Playford rallied and won the remaining four matches, scoring 15 goals in the process. They topped their group on goal difference and went into a tough final encounter against Adastral.
The final was very tight and end 1-1 after extra time with Jordan Daniels scoring the equaliser. The match was decided by penalty kicks. It was the best of three kicks, but should the result still be level sudden death would follow in which every player in the squad was able to take part. Sudden death was indeed needed and six kicks were required before a result was forthcoming. Every Playford outfielder member scored before John Waller turned away Adastralís sixth penalty by diving low to his left.
The Playford squad: Jordan Daniels, Kieran Daniels, Daryl Francis (player-manager), Ash King, Jon Russell, Gareth Stretton, Jon Waller.
